Environmental Impact Assessments

An environmental impact assessment (EIA) precedes the implementation of projects with the potential to cause significant environmental impact, positive or negative, on the environment. After an EIA has been done, a report is submitted to the competent environment authorities, in our case the Ministry of Land and Environment, which has the authority to issue an environmental license for purposes of environmental licensing. An environmental license (EL) allows those proposing activities to go ahead.

When conducting environmental impact assessments, IMPACTO observes the environmental legislation in force in Mozambique and meets international requirements, including those of the World Bank.
